The Artist …

Charlotte Friese is a fashion design graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design.  Her love of landscape and natural forms continuously proves to be the source of unfaltering inspiration. A hands-to-work artisan, problem solver, and creative mind, her respect for nature and our wildly amazing planet leaves her committed to ethical and sustainable production. Nature is full of unexpected wonders. We invite you to join Charlotte as she continues to explore these wonders, capturing the moments of inspiration and creating functional art through design.

Wool & ridge

Art and function meet in these earth inspired handcrafted handbags. Composed primarily of wood and wool, the design of these bags is influenced by the interaction of soft organic forms with rigid inorganic shapes. An appreciation for mid-century modern minimalist furniture and architecture is the foundation for the overall aesthetic and construction. These one-of-a-kind original creations are made with a special interest in using eco conscious materials and practices. Artisan details include hand felted merino wool flaps and framed surfaces, shaped living hinges, merino felt lining, grosgrain ribbon straps, wooden strap adjustors, and hand selected petrified wood and stone closures. Each bag is engraved with Charlotte's signature artisan logo as the final stamp to each unique piece of wearable art.

Micro-scapes

These one-of-a-kind mixed-media micro-scaped windows are inspired by the fascinating forms and textures found at both the micro and macro level in nature. They are the artist's meditation on the harmonious and ever evolving beauty and form within our diverse and fascinating natural world. Delicately singed silk shapes are fixed between oval layers of wood forming the dimensional "scapes". Mineral, glass, crushed shell, or stone treasures are placed within each intricate and fascinating view creating a sense of the infinite. Stamp signed and ready to hang, the pieces have been designed and constructed for optimal mounting.

Whats to come…

Charlotte Friese apparel is in the works and on its way! An eco-conscious, ethically produced, artisan designed, boutique line of apparel is currently being developed.  Each design will be either one-of-a-kind made personally by Charlotte or one of a small batch production made in the USA. Handmade and inspired by nature, each new garment will be an evolution of what came before and will carry the traces of techniques and styles previously created. Artisan techniques including eco-printing, hand-felting, raw-edge finishing, natural dyeing, and decorative stitching are incorporated.  The use of natural fibers such as wool, silk, and linen aid in an exploration of texture, color, and form that ultimately brings to life naturally wearable and aesthetically timeless designs.
